Citing the need to standardize best practices and principles, the Electronic Transactions Association launched the Certified Payments Professional (CPP) program late in 2011. Certification is granted upon passing a rigorous written examination. Those that pass are then granted the title of Certified Payments Professional. Eligibility for the exam is based on possessing one year’s experience in the profession as well as the recommendation of a management-level industry professional.
