RHBA has been awarding scholarships to area college bound Hispanic students for more than a decade as part of its mission to enhance the educational opportunities of members of the overall Hispanic community. Those recognized trace their roots to most of the countries in Latin America and Spain. Some of the early RHBA scholars have already finished their college studies and are contributing members of the community in different areas.
Those interested should check with their schools guidance counselors to find out if they meet the criteria and apply to the Hispanic Scholarship Endowment Fund. The Fund awards a limited number of scholarships every year. The best ranked students usually receive the top scholarships. The remaining students receive scholarships depending on their ranking which is determined by their high school GPA, SAT/ACT scores, extra curricular activities and essay. RHBA scholarships are merit based and awarded to students from either public or private high schools in the general Rochester area.
The RHBA scholarships, a onetime monetary award, are presented every year at the Ibero Annual Gala and Scholarship Awards, along with other scholarships for Hispanic students awarded by colleges, entities and individuals.
