“I am very involved with Rotary, particularly the Rochester Latino Rotary Club. We have been doing a lot of work with youths locally and also international projects:
- A school in El Sauce, Nicaragua – we provide school supplies every year, now the third year we have done this
- Two projects in Mexico: A school for indigenous children where we got a matching grant from the Rotary Foundation and equipped the school with computers, sewing machines, wood working saw, kitchen equipment and the like. This is in Tuxtepec and another in Minatitlán where with another matching grant we equipped a hospital with incubators
- In the Dominican Republic, we provided funds to buy beans and plantain plants for a farm serving people in need
Locally:
- We provide scholarships for college-bound Latinos
- Sponsor youths to participate in the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy and the the Young Entrepreneur Program
- Dictionaries to fourth graders at the Eugenio María de Hostos Charter Schools
- Toys for Three Kings Day at Ibero’s Day Care Center
- Books for pre-K students at the Day Care
- Food items for Ibero’s food pantry
- And others…”
