Oscar R. Pedroso is founder of MBA Writer’s Block, an online admissions resource for young professionals and students applying to business school. He is a seasoned MBA applicant who has secured interviews from top MBA programs. He has taken his years of application experience and funneled it into the MBA Writer’s Block blog, as well as his newly published essay guide, MBA Essays Exposed. Using his resources, applicants learn how to build confidence, brainstorm, organize, and write compelling essays. Readers gain access to over 20 MBA essays that have helped applicants gain admission to schools like Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Wharton, Columbia, Tuck, and Simon.
In addition, Oscar is partnering with universities and colleges in the area to speak to prospective graduate students interested in business and is working with the local chapter of NSHMBA (National Society of Hispanic MBAs) to offer tips, strategies, and advice on the world of business school admissions.
“When it comes to the application process, admissions consultants are generalists. I specialize in teaching people specifically about the MBA application essay. That’s what makes MBA Essays Exposed a much more efficient resource – especially for those who speak English as a second or third language,” added Pedroso. “I take one of the more complicated MBA application processes and make it easy to understand.”
Immersed in entrepreneurship, Oscar also serves as co-founder of a small and developing iPhone application called Osnik. Osnik acts like a tour guide in your pocket and connects you to places you’re likely to enjoy based on fun and interactive questions the app asks you over time. His inspiration comes from demolishing the ‘I-Hate-Rochester’ attitude and convincing Rochestarians that this city is great one to be in right now and that there’s always something to do. You just have to look. His goal is to execute a beta version by the summer of 2012 and launch it locally to see how well it integrates with the college community, one of Oscar’s target main targets.
