RHBA member, Grace Tillinghast, has been knitting hats for newborns at Strong Memorial Hospital for several years. Her participation in this project started when she became a grandmother. “Since my oldest grandchild was born at Strong, I have been knitting the little hats they wear at the neo-natal unit. I deliver them to the hospital every time I have one hundred ready, which is every four-five months. Through the years, I have provided hundreds of hats to new babies in the Rochester area.”
All the hats are made with soft baby yarn, providing new babies a cozy and warm experience. Just recently, Grace was surprised to hear that some one close to her recognized her handiwork! “One of my friends had a grandbaby born in December and sent me a picture of the new born wearing one of my hats!”
Thank you Grace Tillinghast, for providing a kind and thoughtful gesture to families in the Rochester area!
