RHBA Board Member Serves as Judge
On November 16th, The Rochester Business Journal held an award ceremony for recipients of the 23rd annual Rochester Business Journal Forty Under 40 awards. Honorees are professionals who demonstrate leadership in the workplace and in the community, including participation on non-profit boards and other volunteer activities. As indicated by the title of the award, forty individuals are selected for the award each year, and one of the qualifications for the award is that the recipient must be younger than 40 years of age.
At the ceremony, which was held at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center, each award recipient walked down a red carpet to the stage at the front of the room, escorted by the person who submitted a nomination on their behalf. A summary of each honoree’s work experience was then read to the audience, while pictures of the honoree were projected onto multiple screens in the room.
Five judges were involved in the selection of the honorees for the Forty Under 40 awards, including RHBA Board member Luis Ormaechea. Each of the judges is a prior recipient of the award, and is tasked with helping to select the forty honorees from hundreds of nominations. Ormaechea, who received the award in 2016, was very impressed by the group of outstanding leaders who were nominated for this year’s award. He encourages anyone considering making a nomination for next year to learn about the nomination process early so that they have time to put together a strong nomination packet, including the nomination form and supporting documentation such as a biography, resume, or testimonials.
