The association wanted a venue where its members could interact frequently with business leaders and politicians, and at the same time increase the visibility of Hispanic-owned business. After discussing a number of ideas, the Monthly Business Lunch Series was born: A meeting on the third Tuesday of the month, except on September and December, at a Hispanic owned restaurant with a guest speaker.
The first lunch was held in January 2012 at D’Mangu. Lunches are held also at Monte Alban-Irondequoit, Itacate and El Sauza, alternating locations. A few times they were also held at the Greater Chamber of Commerce building and food was catered by a Hispanic restaurant.
In the last six years (started our seventh in January 2018) we have had an array of interesting guest speakers –men and women- who covered a myriad of topics. Where else could one of our members share a meal and talk to a renown patent inventor, or a leader in education, public safety or workforce development? Or the CEO of a local company and the Rochester Chief of Police? Our lunches provide a great opportunity to network, enjoy what the Dominican or Mexican cuisine have to offer, and also improve one’s knowledge about a number of issues and community concerns.
If you have not attended one of the lunches, we encourage you and your friends to join us. Please check our website and facebook page to learn where the monthly lunch will be held and who the guest speaker will be. Above all, good food and great company!
