Meet one of the new members of the RHBA board for the 2022-24 term: Liliana Ruíz.
Liliana Ruíz currently serves as the City of Rochester’s Director of Special Projects and Educational Initiatives.
A former New York City resident, Ruíz interned for WBLS-FM and WDKX-FM. Upon graduation from Long Island University – CW Post, Ruiz started a nine-year run in magazine publishing in New York City as a production manager for Hearst Magazines, with titles including Popular Mechanics, Harper’s Bazaar, and Seventeen Magazine.
She returned to WDKX-FM in 2009 and served as the Director of Special Events and Promotions before joining the Mayor’s Office of Constituent Services in 2018. Lili currently organizes the Just Law program, a collaborative effort between the City of Rochester, the 7th Judicial District, the Rochester City School District, the Rochester Black Bar Association, and WDKX. The initiative provides an opportunity for 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th graders to interface with judges in an effort to better educate students about the US legal system.
Ms. Ruíz served on the Board of Directors for ROC City SkatePark, which, when completed, will be one of the largest outdoor skate parks in the country, intended to provide a safe recreational experience for youth. She also sits on the Board of the Rochester Youth Sports Foundation, Borinquen Dance Theater, and the Black Male Achievement Awards.
