Sergio Esteban is the Chairman of the Board and CEO of LaBella Associates, P.C., a Rochester firm providing expertise in architectural design, engineering, environmental consulting and planning services. LaBella Associates has been recognized consistently in the list of the Rochester Top 100 Fastest Growing Companies, and for the last three years has made the list of the ENR Top 500 largest engineering companies in the USA.
Mr. Esteban obtained a Masters degree in Civil Engineering and Transportation from the Polytechnic University of Madrid in Spain, and furthered his education at Syracuse University and the University of Rochester. His career as an engineer started in Spain, working for the Department of Public Works, in the planning and design of urban arterial systems for several cities.
He has designed and managed many projects that have contributed to the betterment of the Rochester community. The Midtown Redevelopment Project, Port of Rochester Harbor Development, Lexington Tunnel System, Genesee Expressway, City of Rochester Street Lighting Modernization Program, Brown’s Race Area Improvements, Renovation of the War Memorial Study and the Study for Reuse of the Aqueduct are some examples of his work in Rochester.
Mr. Esteban is committed to the Rochester community and his profession. He is currently the President of the Board of Governors at Midvale Country Club and was the Past President of the Genesee River Alliance, the Rochester Chapter of the New York Association of Consultant Engineers, the Rochester Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Rochester Hispanic Business Association. He also served as the Vice President of the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York State, as well as the former chair of the Board of Trustees of WXXI. He was the recipient of the 1993 Rochester Civil Engineer of Year Award, and nominated for the same honor in 2006.
An active citizen of the Rochester community, Mr. Esteban has been involved in a variety of local organizations. He regularly volunteers at St. John of Rochester Church, and is a member of the Board of Trustees at GEVA Theater, the Board of Directors of the Rochester Convention Center Management Corporation, the Board of Trustees of Nazareth College, the Rochester Hispanic Business Association, the Monroe Community College Foundation Board, the RochesterWorks Workforce Investment Board, and the State Workforce Investment Board.
Mr. Esteban, a native of Spain, has lived in the Rochester area since 1978 with his wife, Mary Ann and their two sons, Damian and Gabriel. His interests include international affairs, Spanish literature, history, traveling and golf.
