Join us at D’Mangu Restaurant for our January Business lunch event featuring Michael Kilian!
Topic: He will discuss how local news is changing and what that means for our community. Digital technology, social media and an immense generational divide in audience behavior have served to disrupt generations-old habits for reading newspapers and watching television. While citizens have access to more information than ever, the age-old function of curation done by editors and producers is on the wane. What will news look like locally when our children or grandchildren are our age?
Democrat and Chronicle Executive Editor Michael Kilian is the first locally born top editor of the D&C since Joseph T. Adams ran the newspaper from 1939 to 1941. A Fairport native, he attended Cornell University and has been a newspaper editor for three decades in locations including Troy, Saratoga Springs and Utica in New York state; Burlington, Vt.; Salisbury, Md.; and Cincinnati, Ohio. He is the parent of a Boston University senior and a University of Rochester freshman.
Seating is very limited, pre-registration is required.
