Meet one of our Corporate members:
Monica Daniel Gil
Director, Amazonia Summer Camp
Amazonia Day Camp provides an inclusive, bilingual and supportive environment where children of all abilities, particularly those with special needs, can engage in enriching activities that foster creativity, social development, and confidence with other kids. Our camp offers a variety of recreational and educational programs that are designed to promote empathy, acceptance, and teamwork among children aged 4 to 10. Through a mix of arts, STEM activities, nature exploration, music, dance and sensory-friendly experiences, we strive to create a space where every child can thrive.
What are you currently most excited about when it comes to your organization?
What excites me the most about my business is seeing firsthand how inclusion and play can break barriers for children. As a mother of two, one of whom is on the Autism spectrum, I have witnessed how powerful it is when kids are given the opportunity to learn from each other, embrace differences, and simply enjoy being kids together. At Amazonia Summer Camp, we are building a space where children of all abilities, including those with sensory challenges, can socialize, explore nature, and develop friendships in a way that feels natural and fun. My own children play together every day, and despite their differences, they have taught me that when given the right environment, kids support and uplift one another. That’s why our camp is both inclusive and bilingual, so that every child, no matter their background or abilities, can feel a sense of belonging while experiencing new adventures. Seeing kids grow in confidence, learn empathy, and enjoy the simple joys of childhood is what makes this journey so rewarding for me!
Why did you become a member of the RHBA and why should someone consider joining?
I became a member of the RHBA (Rochester Hispanic Business Association) because I truly believe in the power of community, connection, and representation. As a Latina entrepreneur, I wanted to be part of a network that supports small businesses while celebrating our diverse backgrounds. RHBA has given me the opportunity to connect with other business owners, share experiences, access networking opportunities, and valuable resources that help me grow my camp and continue making a difference. Through RHBA, I’ve connected with people who are now part of my mentors, and their guidance has been invaluable in helping me move forward in my business journey.
